This week we were split into groups of 6 and given a 'How to..' brief, which consisted of questions that would surround how to survive being a student. In this case we got given ' How to sleep when your neighbors are playing loud music'.
Originally we all sat around and began to discuss the idea with one another bouncing ideas off each other, i then decided the best thing to do would be to collect these ideas into some sort of structure so i wrote them all down. We then decided to sit separately for 20 minutes and come up with 10 separate ideas to give us a wide variety. The list below are mine:
1. Poster with things to use to block the sound eg, get a pillow to cover your ears, cotton wool to stuff in your ears.
2. Budget noise stoppers
3. The does and don'ts - peer pressure of asking people to turn it down - looking 'uncool'
4. Ideas of keeping your flat mate up - Illustrations of someone lying in bed with speakers surrounding them
4. Door image with music blasting around it with a mute button on the side
5. Speakers as the halls of residents with one room in between
6. Nursery rhyme - Silence in the court yard, silence in the street etc
7. A list of relaxation techniques
8. A pop up portable tent for when it gets too much
9. A welcome box idea which has things inside to help you sleep
10. Noise images with a silhouette of someone tired and trying to sleep
Once we reconvened we decided that the best idea was the Welcome box as Steph also came up with a similar idea/same idea. This meant we could each put something towards the project but it all work on a whole.
