Type workshop

Thursday, 13 January 2011

Today we had our first workshop on Type, its was about studying the basic anatomy of type and how its broken down into its separate categories using the Catherine Dixon method. Below are screen shots of my first attempts to break down the initial's from my name 'RR'. It was a really interesting session because i didn't know that lettering was so complex.

After we broke down our letter form we were told to make a pattern with out initials using the same fonts that we had explored. I really enjoyed doing this because it showed me a different way of looking at the fonts and how they create different patterns. This was also an exercise to help us get used to working with Quark, because we will be working with Quark for the next few weeks.
