HUGE CHANGE OF PLANS

As i began to think about pulling the information and the designs together i was getting very stressed out working out how the information was going to go into the design, whether it would have been through the online profiling that i mentioned earlier or whether the students would fill it in themselves. to see how the online profile would work, i decided the most effective place to start would be on facebook, here you can create questionnaires that you fill in and then get an answer according to which answers you choose. I thought this would be a good place to set up a questionnaire and then the students would fill it in and fall into the category and get a 'friend' designed to which categories they would fill in. I wanted it to be as diverse as possible and not make a generlisation. as i began making the questionnaire i realized that the whole thing was flawed because no matter how many questions you answered if you pressed a certain button at the end you fall into that category, and that would mean it didn't represent who you were accurately enough. So i decided to look further afield and found that the only websites that truly have the technology to do this are websites such as match.com and similar dating websites because they have the funding to run something as large as that. As i don't have the money or expertise to create my own software to do it, it was getting very hard to work out how to do this the most successful way.

As i was struggling with this i managed to get hold of John and have a chat with him. I told him all about the problems i was having with designing an online profile to do it and reservations about giving a student a 'friend' that has information about them on it. It was beginning to seem pretty pointless. I really liked the idea of the students having a card board 'friend' for that first week but i was really struggling about the information. So i mentioned to John that I had another idea earlier on about putting information in with hints and tips and possible accessories for the students as a sort of 'Bumper Pack'. John really liked this, and i so did i.

So I completely scraped the idea of doing a profile inside about the student and instead decided the best avenue to go down would be have a bumper pack for the students that would help them that first week.
