Captain Jack Sparrow

After drawing the larger title sequence i broke down the mountain parts into smaller chunks just to help me get an understanding of what needed to be animated when, with regards to masking off. This really helped me when it came to entering the vector into after effects because it made it easier to see the sequence.

This first video basically shows the structure of the sequence. Getting the parts to animate in the right order was very important because i wanted it all to come together at the end, without it being obvious throughout what it was going to be. The sequence itself is actually quite long, but the speed of he animation is just about right. The other problem i have with this sequence is Cpt. Jacks eyes. They are too big, and i lost detail when it came to masking of the design, which was very annoying. So i am going to have to re-mask the design. The drawing works well though it works in a stage by stage way and gives just the right amount of detail before it builds to the final image. I am really happy with the way its been animated and i will use this again when it comes to masking off the revised image.

With this last sequence i added in the map lines travelling across the screen. I really like the concept here. I think the lines themselves would work better being hand drawn instead of type that i have added. However it was just a test to see if the idea works. What i also like is the panning angle and how it starts in and gradually shows the rest of the animation. Another aspect i like is the fact that the lines cut off and travel around the shape instead of staying on one side of the page and then off the other. I think the lines are also a little too close to the vectored mountain, but for an example of the concept it really works.
