Menu Mock ups

Tuesday, 17 May 2011

after sketching out some ideas for the folds of my menu I've put some mock ups together with a varierty of basic layouts, just to get a feel of how they would look.

First page, has large logo on the front and
outlines the fact that it is going to be a menu.
Clear and hold title, main hiyeracy around the
logo.

First 3 pages, Information about the company. Something
quite short and snappy, not bombarding the read with information
Not sure what to put on the middle page, maybe an image?
Immediately see the buy one get one free, enticing the consumers.

Main fold within contains all the information about
the flavors and their prices. At the bottom have the tear off
buy one get one frees in order to give them out.

The back of the flyer, it has the address and the map on to find the store.
This is so that people who want the cupcakes but have never
been can easily find the store.

The flyer fits in perfectly to the slot. The landscaped
logo will really stand out which is good. I want it to be fairly
plane against the colorful background of the packaging.
I really like this fold, it gives plenty of room to put all the information i need on as well as being tactile and engaging for the consumer to use. It has plenty of room for the tear off parts as well as having a remaining flyer in order for the consumer to keep the menu, so they can refer back to it.

____________________________________________

Bold logo, stretched across the center
with the sub heading underneath. Keeping the front
as clear as possible. simplistic.

Fold out 2, containing information about the company
as well as the map and address. Immediately informing the
consumer.

Turn over, for 3,4,5. Shows the buy one get one free section, the
rip off. this will grab the viewer and hopefully entice them to go
back to the company again.

turn the page over and you can see the flavors and the prices
and by having the buy one get one free, it attaches itself
to the menu quite neatly.

Folded out of the back. the blank page that can maybe have]
an image on it. Not too sure what yet, maybe a picture of just
a normal cupcake.

Again fits in really snuggly which is good,
but need to be changed to landscape so that you
can clearly see the logo.

I like this fold, there is a lot of space for me to try out the layout. Having two full pages to show the flavors as well as room for the offer/deal. I am not too sure what I could put on the blank page. But if theres not enough room for the the flavours then I could maybe use the extra space.

Bold and clear logo display on the front, again re-iterating
the brands identity.

Immediately shown the buy one get one free
so this informs the consumers as well as showing
them the offer and enticing them to visit
the cupcake shop again. this is then re-iterated
with the map and the address next to it, showing the
consumer where to go.

3 page spread that will outline the flavors and the prices.
showing the wide variety. By having the offer right next to them
this will show that theres an offer along with the varying cupakes.
Just a lot of promotion for the company.

The back would have an offer on it as well as the map, showing
where to use the offer. This flyer is used for existing and new
consumers showing them where to go to get the cupcakes,
and the offer entices the old consumers. I think on the blank page
i would put some information about the company.

The front would need to be changed to landscape.
Im not sure whether i would have to change the whole
thing so that it would all read landscape, i guess i'll
have to try out some samples.
I like this fold too because of the amount of space to play around with, theres a lot more room for the information about the flavours compared to the second one. I think that theres a lot that can be done with it, without it being too boring. By having more space for the flavours and spreading it across 3 pages i will look like theres loads, again adding another element to it.

This is a 6 page letter format. There will be a
lot less information being able to fit on it compared
to the others.

You would open it like a book, so by grabing
the consumers vision straight away with the offers
followed by the flavors. This entices the consumer to read more.

Folding it out theres 2 pages full of flavors, giving more
room for the flavors. By having information about the buy
one get one free too couples with the prices of the flavors.

The only problem with this design is there is no room for
an 'about' the company, which looking at the fold outs
i would really like to include.

After going through the layouts I have realised there's certain qualities I really need to include. Firstly the buy one get one frees should be back to back so that they can be torn off easily without damaging the menu of flavors. Another is the logo needs to be landscape so that it matches the rest of the layout with the packaging and can be read easily. I prefer the larger layouts, i think the 12 fold is a little too big but the 8 folds are just about right. I particularly like the 2nd to last one, theres a lot of room to play around with as well as it remaining functional. I think I am going to try some layouts with this one.
