No News is Good News... Brief - Designs

For this section i am looking at the poster that is pure Type. This is the poster that i want to be the most clear, i have designed a simple and effective message to get across 'Think MRSA, Think disease, Think Fatal'. I wanted the image to get across that MRSA is fatal and i did this by varying the type colour and making certain parts stand out. I had to try and alter the tone of the surrounding text to make it a darker shade of white and this was so that from a distance you couldn't read it but when you got up close you could. It was quite hard finding the right tone for the piece and below shows the varieties of colours i went through.

I chose the type face 'Helvetica' because i want the image to look clinical, crisp and clear and helvetica gives you that. It also helps give the image a professional feel which ultimately is what i am trying for.

Type:
This is a light shade, the problem with this is when i printed it off it was too light and you really couldn't read it even if you were up close.
To try and make it darker i layered the type but it just came out horrible, the text is way too chunky and it slight distorts making it unreadable.
Above i have used a darker grey, the problem is it is too dark and you can read it too much. I printed it off to compare to the above one but it takes away from "MRSA is fatal". I also layered the image to add depth but again it was just too dark.
This tone is too light and makes it uncomfortable to read, and even if you get closer you still cant get the whole message.
Here i tried layering the above image but it just looks too bright again and visually it doesn't work.
With this image i took the red i was using and turned the opacity down with it to see what it would look like. I don't like this because it came out pink and that doesn't put the clinical message across that i wanted. It also doesn't use the white background and therefore it stood out more than i wanted it to.
This is a mixture of the cream and grey tones, i prefer this image because when i printed it out it came out faint enough to not be seen but dark enough for it to be read when you are up close. It doesn't detract from the main message and helps it be legible and readable. I will be using this for my poster.
