MUNNY - kidrobot - Tristan Eaton

Munny is a designer toy that Kidrobot make. These toys arn't really designed to be played with, although they move etc. They are seen more as as collectors item. I bought one in order to see how the package the toy and what you get with it. The reason i am looking at this is because of the fact i am making a 3D buddy, and i want to look at different ways of packaging. I would love to get hold of an actual cardboy toy but the website is down and i can't order one.
When you get the box, it is simply designed. Using a large type face that mimics the title 'Munny'. The box uses a mixture of type and image to help show what you can do with the toy and what comes inside. I also like the fact that the box uses a matt finish so it feel textured when you hold it and is printed on a robust card so that it won't dent or mark easily.
When you open the box the first thing you see is Munny, and then your eyes are drawn to the shiny package underneath which has the pens, and accessories inside. I really like the way they call the accessories 'mystery accessory' as it adds intrigue and you get excited because you don't know what you're going to get. The package also include a pen that you use to draw all over Munny and make him unique to you.
Generally the whole concept of having a Munny is very well done, they have packaged it to so well because it lets you feel a variety of emotions when opening and receiving the toy. I also like the whole idea of you being able to customise your Munny and i think it was a very good marketing tactic on their behalf as i know that they hold events in order for Tristan Eaton and his fellow colleagues to customise your Munny for you. This means people will buy one just for those special occasions, and they arn't cheap!

There are a few things i am going to take from this when thinking about my packaging, it has given me quite a few ideas.
