Communication is a virus

'Get people to recycle more..' We were split into pairs and were told for the next three weeks we had to work together to create a solution to one of the problems we were given. Chris S (Starkie) and I were put together, and we decided that we wanted to work on the recycling problem. We came with a few ideas and began some basic research that could maybe give us some ideas and directions to go in. (ALL CAN BE FOUND ON MY CONTEXT BLOG).

I researched more imaged based solutions, and ideas that we could use for example screen printing and what we could screen print on seeing as it is such a versatile tool. I came up with the idea of recycling old peoples t-shirts. For example taking someones old t-shirt hat they don't want with an image on it and turing it into something new either using the original image and working around it or changing it completely.

We both didn't want to go down the age old route of recycling bottles and cans etc, as people do know how to recycle they know what to recycle and theres soooo many campaigns already out there. We wanted to do something original and that would not be boring.

The problem was finding that niche. Seeing as quite a lot of things had been done to death eg. stationary, cups, all day to day things. It was hard to establish something new that would have a big impact on people. The more researched into it and the more we brain stormed, the more we realised it was going to be pretty hard to establish something new and also a fairly boring topic to get people interested in.

So on Tuesday we both decided to head down a completely different route and try another title.

I am glad we did the research though and didn't just discount it because if we hadn't done enough in the early stages we would have made a big mistake carrying on.
