Show and Tell

Wednesday 16 March 2011

Today we had 'Show and tell' which entailed us having everything we have got so far, displayed to the rest of the group and crited accordingly. I am quite happy this has come around because it means generally people steer clear of work they have already been in crits in, which means we got fresh pairs of eyes looking at our work. I think we defiantly needed to have this crit because i think we were beginning to loose pace with our ideas and design solutions, and as for myself i was starting to get fed up with doing the same stuff. This crit really helped us revaluate what we have done and the potential we actually have.

We got some constructive feedback and some not so constructive. For example in one of our 10 questions we stated we were having problems with the layout for one of the tickets and someone just put 'dont like 'available from' layout...' which didn't really help us at all. However we did get some really good feedback especially pointing out stupid things that we knew and just had done, i.e making it clear what the ticket was about, making it more obvious what the retail outlet was about. Things that we knew the answer to but other people might not realise it. Putting things into context seems to be one of the big things for us to do.

Things we need to do:

Ticket - Need to tweak and make it more obvious as to what its about and why its being used. Maybe add a ticket display?
Retail Outlet - Names on the shops helping it be put into context, so they can see what it would look like.
Packaging - More designs and styles need to be explored with colour choices.

With regards to the whole project, i think there needs to be some more tweaking:

- I think the style of the work needs to become more cohesive
- I think we could develop a bigger range i.e Use lanyards? Maybe create a small bag that holds the promotional goods i.e minis and lanyard and ticket (showing where to buy)

These are just general quick things i jotted down while thinking about the project and I will discuss them further with Nick.
